Carding rounds of even and one over par he was just one shot shy of the even par cut line.
With two holes to play he was two over and needed to finish birdie birdie. He gave it a good try. At the par-3 17th he nailed his tee shot to 10 feet and sank the putt. Things were looking up.
On the reachable par-5 18th he got to the back of the green in two and maybe 50 feet from of the pin. His birdie putt lipped out.
In round 2 he carded 4 bogeys and 3 birdies.
“Felt that I played alright, missed a few fairways by a yard or so which was a bit punishing.”
An even par round left Travis tied 54th going into the second round at the Panasonic open.
The event is at Higashi Hirona an immaculately presented course just outside Kobe.
A feature of the course are travellators to help golfers and Caddies!!! surmount the steep climbs to the high tees.
At one point Trav got to 2 under through 14 holes but a couple of late bogeys set him back.
“Hitting it well lots of greens in regulation could have been 3 or 4 under. No dramas so all good “
Tomorrow he has a 7 am start time for round two
A final round 2 under par enabled Trav to climb the leaderboard and finish T12th. He had rounds of 70,71,69 and 69 for a 5 under par total of 279.
