Progress on PGA China Tour
/At the halfway point of 2019 James has played 4 events on the PGA Tour China Series’ 14 tournament season.
After making the cut and finishing T48 in his first event the Qinhuangdao Championship with a solid 1 under par he was unable to make the cut in the next three events.
Illness struck James down, resulting in a withdrawal, from the Suzhou Open after one round then a poor MC +10 was perhaps inevitable the following week at the Huangshan Championship in late June.
In his 4thevent on tour the Guangzhou Open in mid- July at Nansha Golf Club he missed out on the week end carding a +5 for two rounds and missing the cut by three shots. In the event weather prevented play at the week end and the tournament was declared over after 36 holes.
“The Suzhou Open was a really big learning curve. I was forced to deal with some health problems in a non-English speaking country and also dealing with big storm delays. Which is something I haven’t had to deal with before. I handled the delays okay but learnt about my weaknesses for the next time it happens.”
“At Guangzhou I created lots of birdie opportunities but just wasn’t able to get the putts to drop. Lots of good signs in terms of executing great shots and sticking to my improving routines. Trying to stay patient and execute well.”
In between these events he had a bit of a bonus playing in the Meriton Sydney Invitational in late May. He scored a 3rdplace finish behind Damian Jordan and Darren Beck. He had a 6 under par total across NSW, St Michael’s and The Lakes Golf Clubs.
His next event is the Dongguan Open at Mission Hills GC (Norman Course) starting on 25 July.
