Sarah Kemp: 2018 Summary Results

On the Australian tour Sarah had a fabulous year winning the Order of Merit on the back of good finishes at the ISPS Handa Victorian Open and the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open.

In total she played 7 events making the cut in all the events.  She won a Pro-Am at Moss Vale and had a runner up finish at the Vic Open and T10 at the Australian Open.  The latter events were co-sanctioned by the US LPGA giving her a huge boost in the Priority Rankings on the US tour.

In 2018 Sarah did not have sufficient Priority Ranking to play on full field LPGA tour events but played 6 events co-sanctioned by the tour making just one cut at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open where she was placed T 28.

Sarah played 7 events on the European Ladies Tour which were not co sanctioned by her home tour or the LPGA.  In these she made all 7 cuts recording three top ten finishes her best finish being runner up in Morroco at the Lalla Meryem Cup.

Darren Beck: The Story So Far

The story so far

Darren was born to English parents in South Africa before the family moved to Australia when he was seven years old. He started playing golf with his father at the age of six and by 16, he was a scratch handicapper. He represented New South Wales and won the inter-state series in 2000.

Admires Jason day for his determination and Adam Scott for his fluid golf swing. Philosophy in golf is to “enjoy what you’re doing and to keep smiling” which were words of advice from his coach John Serhan. Enjoys working out in the gym and hanging out on the beach with his family. His brother Johnny caddies for Darren when he is on the Asian Tour.

He has two young boys.

After initially playing on the Australasian Tour he earned his Asian Tour card at the third attempt at Qualifying School at the end of 2007.

Darren secured his career breakthrough in style on the Asian Tour when he defeated Gaganjeet Bhullar in a thrilling play-off to win the 2009 Brunei Open. He came from four shots back on the last day.

Darren Beck 2018/2019 wrap to date

2018 marked a return to form for Beck who finished 29th in the Order of Merit on the PGA Tour of Australasia; his highest finish. For 2019 his aim is to maintain his form and be in a solid financial position to return to the Asian Tour.

For 2019 Beck has maintained the form playing four events on the PGA Australasian Tour making two cuts with his best finish at the Queensland PGA Championship where he finished 19th. On the Pro-Am circuit he won the Brookwater Pro-Am and was runner up at the biggest Pro-Am in Australia the Meriton Sydney Invitational.

For 2019 his aim is to maintain his form and be in a solid financial position to return to the Asian Tour.

Brett Drewitt took a really smart way to get on the Web.com Tour via the PGA China Tour series. Brett obtained status on the China Tour in only its second year of becoming linked to the Web.com tour. A win on that tour helped cement his place in the all-important top 5 on the OOM to gain conditional status on the Web.com Tour. He has played professional golf in the US since 2015 and has maintained status on the Web.com tour. He is now fully resident in the USA married with one child. A long journey from Inverell!

Ashley Nisbett (Ona)

Ashley was successful on the ALPG for a number of years and was determined to try and succeed overseas. In 2016 she had a tilt at gaining status on the Symetra Tour, the feeder tour of the LPGA. Despite great preparation it wasn’t to be. Ultimately Ash decided to take a break.

Since 2017 Ash has worked with Richard Woodhouse at KDV Sports on the Gold Coast. She is now a successful personal trainer and will undoubtedly continue to build her reputation in this field.

Matt Stieger qualified for the Australian Tour via winning the NSW PGA Championships in December 2012. He quickly followed this up by qualifying for the Asian Tour. In his 7th year on tour Matt continues to show his talent with a vast array of shot making. He moved from Sydney to Newcastle during 2018 and decided to make a few changes in his support team at that time.

Sarah Kemp's Journey


Sarah has had a successful career in golf. Her ten years plus of status on the major tours in Europe and the USA is testimony to her credentials as a touring pro.

She is from Tuncurry, in New South Wales Australia, a town about 300km north of Sydney. She was born in 1985. Like most career golfers Sarah was introduced to the game before her teenage years by her parents. She played for years at the Tuncurry Golf and Country Club.

Sarah achieved many goals as an amateur including representing Australia (2004) and being Australian Amateur Stroke Play Champion in 2003 and 2005.

She cites Australian golfing legend Bill McWilliam as being influential in her early years followed by Peter Knight Master Professional at the PGA and National Coach. In the past 6 years she has been coached by John Serhan out of the St Michael’s Golf Club.

After turning pro in 2005 she recorded three wins on the ALPG tour in her rookie year.

In her early years on tour she scored well. Second on the Australian ALPG Order of Merit (2006) and 6 consecutive top ten’s on the Ladies European Tour in 2007.

She earned status on the LPGA tour in 2008 via qualifying school.

Sarah had good momentum on tour in 2013 through 2015 getting better than 50% of cuts but hit a slump in 2017. Recovered during 2018 scoring well in Europe and recorded good results in the 2018/2019 season on the Australian Tour including two events which were co-sanctioned by the LPGA.

These latest result vaulted her to claim first place on the ALPG Order of Merit in 2018/19and significantly improved her Priority Ranking on the LPGA.

In total she has won 12 times on the ALPG Tour.

“I have had a lot of tough years and I’ve had to fight through tour schools to regain status. Yes, it can seem like a constant battle and many times unrewarding but self-belief, hard work and lots of team, friends and family support gets you there.”

“I am in a good space at the moment and I feel it is helping my performance on course.”

Certainly she continues to meet the challenges of the professional golf circuit.
