ISPS Handa Victoria Open
/It was a satisfying weekend for golfers supported by Contender Sports at the Vic Open. It was a really tough week end with winds often over 50km/hour. Pars felt like birdies on many holes and putting was absolutely treacherous.
Top finisher was Travis Smyth carding a 14 under par tournament result to finish T3. The top five finish gets Travis a start in a US$1.75m European Tour event the Oman Open starting on 27 February. His world ranking jumped to within the top 300 following this and recent strong results.
Darren Beck improved his position going three under par in the final two rounds to be 11 under for the tournament and T7.
He was to go on to Asian Tour School but disruptions caused by the Corona Virus have resulted in second thoughts and a rearranged schedule to play in Australia this month.
Having made the third round cut to top 35 Sarah was unable to advance. She was sanguine about the result given the playing conditions. Good hit out and preparation for the Aussie Open in Adelaide the following week.
James missed the week end cut by a couple of shots. It was his first professional start with his new category. Next week he heads to Queensland for the PGA Champs followed by the Open. Building and growing in experience and confidence.
