Top ten finish at Blue Canyon Phuket Championship
/After a 20 month COVID induced pause the Asian Tour finally got underway with back to back events in Phuket.
Trav got out of the starting blocks in great style carding, 73,65,72 and 65 for a 13 under par total and a tie for 10th place. Best of the Aussies was Scott Hend at 16 under and tied 4th.
“Certainly stoked with the result. After the 65 on Friday I was hoping to do a bit better than Saturday’s even par. Really happy though with repeating the 7 under on the final day. I drove the ball great and putting was where it should be.”
It was Trav’s second top ten on the Asian Tour.
The result puts Trav at #17 on the OOM. The top 30 set to qualify for the US$5m Saudi International on February 3rd. There are three more counting events before the close. This week in Phuket then two in Singapore during January.
Trav’s Official World Golf Ranking will take a bit of time to recover. He has not played ranking events for two years. The result is a 400 place drop to #678. Algorithms work against the Asian Tour players as the field rating criteria is a factor in the calculation. The average ranking of the top ten finishers in Phuket was 400.
